What can businesses learn from Team New Zealand’s America’s Cup victory?
Updated: Dec 10, 2018
Emirates Team New Zealand has made history this week, winning the 35th America’s Cup. It’s an incredible sporting achievement, but Appco Australia looks at what businesses and businesspeople can learn from this feat.
The America’s Cup is one of the most difficult trophies in sport to win and, while this is Team New Zealand’s third win, it was probably particularly rewarding as they were famously defeated by Oracle Team USA at the last regatta in 2013.
So, what does it take to bounce back and win such an elite and challenging event?
Like any team sport, there are some fundamental elements that contribute to achieving a successful outcome, including: teamwork; having a clear vision, strong leadership; communication; hard work; and dedication.
Whether out on the high seas or in a working environment, these elements can be applied for ultimate success.
Appco Group Australia has worked together with Australian businesses and charities for over 20 years to help them achieve their goals of growing their customer and donor bases and increasing awareness of their brands.
Like Team New Zealand, the team here at Appco Australia, collaborates to deliver a high-quality service for our clients across many different industries. We combine our in-house expertise, knowledge and experience to benefit our clients causes and brands.
Did you know? The America’s Cup is an international sporting event that is rich in history, beginning in 1851, the old-world sailing race has lured a long list of high-profile business and industry tycoons who have invested significantly in the sport, including Oracle’s Larry Ellison, real estate mogul Alan Bond and, way back in the day, tea merchant Sir Thomas Lipton.
