Appco Group backs coast-to-coast charity cycle
Updated: Nov 12, 2018
Appco Group is sponsoring an adventurous cyclist traveling 4,000km across Australia to raise money for his quadriplegic friend Zane Conroy.
Alex Watkiss will average 130km a day with only two rest days, cycling from Perth on the west coast to Bondi on the east coast to help raise money for Zane’s on-going care and medical costs.
Appco is the main sponsor of the event, covering the cost of the ride itself and supporting Alex to get around the country by providing the ancillary vehicles.
Zane tragically injured himself in 2010, diving into Sydney Harbour and instantly breaking his neck.
Appco Group UK Senior Call Centre Manager Glendon Evarts is a close friend of Zane’s and has played a lead role in promoting the charity cycle.
“It’s an unbelievable story – it’s not only something I’d personally like to support, but it’s something that the very ideals of Be Something More really personifies,” said Chris Niarchos, Founder and Chairman of Appco Group.
“We, at Appco have decided to get behind the whole program
me. This is what Be Something More stands for: to do something with life that’s really special, to do something that’s different and to do something that means something to other people in such a positive way.”
