Appco Australia supports local Sydney charity

Appco Australia employees have donated $2,500 to Sydney charity the Women’s and Girls’ Emergency Centre (WAGEC).

WAGEC is a non-government, not-for-profit organisation that assists women, children and young people, and families who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness and/or domestic and family violence.

Helen Silvia, CEO, WAGEC said: “These funds will go a long way towards assisting women and families at our crisis refuges, and in supporting our services towards better outcomes for our clients.”

WAGEC provides vital services for at-risk women and children, including safe and secure crisis accommodation for short-term stays and a supported transitional housing program.

The donation was made through Appco Australia’s voluntary workplace giving program, The Appco Gives Back Foundation.

Each month, staff can nominate the charities and causes they would like to support. Since the initiative began, the Foundation has supported many causes including not-for-profit indigenous programs and medical research.

The Appco Gives Back Foundation is governed by Good2Give, which is a not-for-profit organisation registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission that helps businesses and donors to give.
