Appco Australia supports employee in bike ride for sick kids
Updated: Dec 11, 2018
Appco Australia staff have donated $500 through workplace giving program, The Appco Gives Back Foundation in support of colleague Danielle Pedersen who cycled an epic 80 kilometres to raise vital funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities.
“The ride from Lorne to Geelong in Victoria was challenging, but I did it with a great group of people who were so supportive,” says Danielle.
“We all knew that our efforts were helping sick children and their families – you just can’t compare this small challenge with what they go through every day. That was enough motivation for me to reach the finish line.”
Danielle has raised almost $1,700 for Ronald McDonald House Charities’ program in Victoria, which provides accommodation for families of seriously sick children who are being treated in nearby hospitals. The program keeps families together and close to where their child is being cared for.
Each month, Appco Australia employees nominate not-for-profit charities and causes they would like to support. Since the initiative began, the Foundation has donated to various charities from indigenous programs and youth outreach support to medical research.
The Appco Gives Back Foundation is governed by Good2Give, which is a not-for-profit organisation registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission that helps businesses and donors to give.
