BLOG: Independent Contractor Bonnie discusses what it’s like to be a brand ambassador

Recently, we received this positive feedback from a donor, Mark, praising the work of a fundraiser he spoke to: “I had the most amazing experience with Bonnie. She had a great attitude, was a good communicator and I felt like I had known her for years.”

This got us thinking about the invaluable services professional fundraisers like Bonnie supply – so we spoke to her about the great work she is doing. Here she gives us an insight into what it’s like to be an independent contractor.

Bonnie believes that being a professional fundraiser is great – not only does she enjoy working with other independent contractors, she’s passionate about raising awareness for our clients’ causes.

“I love the charity that I am representing, and I enjoy educating and informing potential donors about the vital work they’re doing.  Even if a customer decides not to donate, I know the time I’ve spent talking to them was worthwhile – it’s my role to generate brand awareness and spread the good word.”

Bonnie says being an independent contractor has provided her with flexibility and choice, which has been great for her career.

“I enjoy running my own business and making my own choices about the hours I work and opportunities that are presented to me. Yes, I am independent, but I also feel very supported by the marketing company I am engaged with – they’ve helped me to improve my professional development and grow my company.”

So, what’s the best part about being a professional brand ambassador? Bonnie says: “It makes my day when I meet people who are passionate about the cause I represent and/or who have been involved with the charity – this empowers me and makes the work I do even more fulfilling.”
