Not only is our Business Relationship Manager Danielle Pedersen an expert in organisational development, as we’ve discovered, she’s a creative too! Danielle has a huge passion for human art and photography, and as a people-focused business, we think her artistic interests tie in well with her job.
Essentially, Danielle builds and maintains professional relationships with and offers advice and support to some of the marketing companies Appco Australia sub-contract – they provide face-to-face marketing services for the direct campaigns we create. Here, we learn more about Danielle and why her role is integral to ensuring sub-contracted marketing companies meet our high standards and industry regulations.
In a nut-shell, describe your role at Appco Australia
I provide expert advice about organisational development to the marketing companies Appco Australia sub-contracts and I also develop and maintain these relationships. My role falls within the professional advisory team which provides expertise across various fields. This service is offered to sub-contracted suppliers and it’s totally up to them if they decide to opt in. We find that most of them do as they see the immense benefits our knowledge brings to their businesses.
The reason why we offer this service is simple – it’s essential that together we are able to deliver responsible and valuable direct marketing campaigns to Appco Australia’s clients. We recognise the invaluable services sub-contracted marketing companies provide and work with them to continuously deliver high-quality campaigns.
What does a typical day look like for you?
One day I might be working with an owner of a sub-contracted marketing company, another day I might be networking at an industry event – every day is different, and I love it.
What is the best part about your job?
I really like the people I work with – the staff at Appco Australia are friendly, easy to work with and they know their stuff. The sub-contracted marketing company owners I support and advise are very motivated and passionate about what they do. It’s inspiring and refreshing to work alongside these people every day and makes my role so enjoyable.
Your role is pretty fast-paced, what’s your strategy to stay focused?
I think it’s all about having a clear plan and being super-organised. I heavily rely on my mobile phone and calendar to get me through each day.
Have you got any secret talents?
I am a mum of four kids and that is a talent in itself – I have learnt to be very patient! I am also a long-distance cyclist – I do this for fitness and I’ve ridden on a number of occasions for charity.
Learning never stops regardless of your experience, how do you continue to develop?
I work with so many clever and talented people and have absorbed a lot of their knowledge. I like to think I am a good student and have some fantastic mentors in the industry that help me to develop and be my best.
What was an early job that taught you something important or useful?
My dad owned and managed a lot of pubs and hotels and from a young age, I was exposed to his business acumen. I worked with him when I was older – this experience gave me the grounding and taught me that if you believe in yourself and work hard, it all pays off.
What's something about you that people would be surprised to learn?
I am a qualified photographer! My photographs were published in Black and White Magazine, which is a big accomplishment for a professional photographer.
What’s the best advice you ever took?
Surround yourself with people who are smarter than you. You can always learn and grow from their wisdom personally and professionally.
How did you start in your industry?
At the time I was a photographer and interested in widening my skill-set I thought it would be a good idea to work in a marketing agency – I joined Appco Australia and found my other passion to help businesses achieve their goals – the rest is history!

Appco Australia’s General Manager Michelle Thomas oversees the Pro-Sales and Sports divisions – her role is integral to the delivery of our clients’ direct marketing campaigns. And, although she’s been with the company for almost 8 years, somehow, she’s managed to surprise us – yes, she’s a self-confessed daredevil and says skydiving and bungee jumping have helped her career progression!
