Appco In Focus: Client Account Manager Danielle discusses great campaign delivery
Getting five minutes with Client Account Manager Danielle was no easy task – but we finally managed to track her down. She discusses why she loves her fast-paced job and she also tells us her secret to being productive and focussed at work.
In a nut-shell, describe your role at Appco Australia.
It’s extremely busy and fun – it’s my job to build and maintain relationships with our clients, Appco Australia team members and the marketing companies we sub-contract to for face-to-face marketing services. I’m the person who makes sure everything is happening when it should. I coordinate and manage all the behind-the-scenes stuff with key people, so we get the best results from the campaigns we create for our clients.
How do you get ready for a day at work?
I’m really efficient and can get myself ready in under 22 minutes flat. Once I’m at work, I always make myself a supersized coffee before sitting down and reading my emails.
What does a typical day look like for you?
There is no such thing in my role – no two days are ever the same which is why I love my job. Having a variety of tasks keeps it very interesting – some days I will meet clients in person and other days I’m on the phone or emailing suppliers to ensure they’re up to speed on the campaigns we’re working on. As much as I try to plan my day, I can never be 100 percent sure how it will turn out. That’s the nature of my job as I need to quickly adapt to the campaigns I’m managing.
What’s the best part of your role at Appco Australia?
I work with so many passionate people – they’re inspiring and keep me motivated!
Learning never stops regardless of your experience, how do you continue to develop?
I’m a strong believer that learning comes in various forms not, just from a formal education, but from the experiences I’ve had and information I’ve come across at work or in my personal life. My style is to ask loads of questions and then attempt to do it myself.
What’s one thing you can’t live without?
Coffee and cheese – that’s two, but they’re both fundamental to my productivity.
Your role is pretty fast-paced, what’s your strategy to stay focused?
It’s pretty simple – I’m highly organised. It’s the only way to make sure I am achieving everything I need to each day. I have colour coded folders in my Outlook, I schedule appointments and tasks into my calendar and I write lots of lists. Oh, did I mention I love coffee?
What does work-life balance mean for you?
For me it’s all about having the time to manage my work and my personal life without impacting each other. This can be hard, but it’s important because it keeps me happy and focused. I enjoy my job, but I equally enjoy my time with family and friends and doing things I enjoy like reading and going for a run.
If you had a magical power, what would it be and why?
I always thought that being invisible would be great, but I think I would much rather have a photographic memory. I would love to be able to read something and just remember it – this would be really useful in my role!
